Place Beyond the Pines เริ่มต้นที่ชีวิตของ ลูค (ไรอัน กอสลิ่ง) นักขี่มอเตอร์ไซค์ผาดโผนที่ตะลอนหางานตามเมืองต่างๆ พร้อมคณะละครสัตว์ ชายหนุ่มไม่เคยอยู่เป็นหลักเป็นแหล่ง และไม่เคยผูกมัดกับหญิงสาวคนใดเลย กระทั่งวันหนึ่งลูคได้ไปเจอกับอดีตผู้หญิงที่เขาเคยมีความสัมพันธ์ด้วย (รับบทโดย อีวา เมนเดส) และทราบว่าเธอได้คลอดบุตรชายซึ่งตัวเขานั่นเองเป็นบิดา การได้รับรู้ว่าตัวเองมีลูก ทำให้ลูคตัดสินใจหยุดชีวิตพเนจรของตนเอง และตั้งหน้าตั้งตาทำมาหาเงินเพื่อลูกเมีย แต่เมื่อเงินที่หาได้ไม่เพียงพอที่จะประคับประคองครอบครัวได้ ลูคจึงถูกเพื่อนร่วมงานชักจูงเข้าสู่โลกของอาชญากรรม ชายหนุ่มได้รับข้อเสนอให้ไปร่วมปล้นธนาคาร และจุดนั้นเองที่นำเขาไปพบกับตัวละครสำคัญอีกคนหนึ่งของหนังเรื่องนี้ คือ ตำรวจหนุ่มไฟแรงนามว่า อาเวอรี่ ครอส (แบรดลี่ย์ คูเปอร์) อาเวอรี่ ครอส เป็นตำรวจหนุ่มทะเยอทะยานในหน้าที่การงาน และซื่อตรงต่อวิชาชีพ ถึงแม้ว่าเพื่อนร่วมงานหลายคน จะเข้าไปเกี่ยวข้องกับเงินสกปรก แต่อาเวอรี่ก็พยายามเอาตัวออกห่างมาโดยตลอด ชายหนุ่มทำงานหนักจนไม่มีเวลาให้กับ
